CAN YOUR BIG TOE DO THIS

The big toe is involved in all movements. And even when we stand, it "works" on the balance of the body (we talked about this in more detail in the post About the Role of the Big Toe).

But for the big toe to cope with its tasks, it must be mobile enough. Poor mobility leads not only to gait and posture disorders, but also to unwanted outcomes in the body. This usually leads to the development of a "bump" (you know this unaesthetic growth above the joint? Unfortunately, it also hurts a lot😬).

How to check if your big toe is mobile enough?

Conduct a simple test (see the picture ☝️. Many thanks to @barefootukraine for the visual information).
Normally, the big toe should be able to rise freely by 60°.

What to do if it "can't" do that yet?

▪️ wear shoes that give your toes enough space and allow them to move freely;

▪️ walk barefoot or in barefoot shoes on different surfaces more often;

▪️ do exercises for flexibility and mobility of joints and phalanges (we will post the exercises on our blog soon).

And if you already have pain in your foot, be sure to consult a specialist.

Be healthy and take care of your feet 🤗
