MORTON'S TOE

👆🏻This foot structure feature is called "Morton's toe" (or "Greek foot" - the Greeks and Romans considered it the standard of beauty, by the way☝️).
For your information: the American Statue of Liberty also has a second toe that is longer than the big one🗽

The "Greek" form occurs in 10-20% of the population. It occurs because the metatarsal bone of the first (big) toe is shortened.
By the way, sometimes "Morton's toe" is not visually visible - it can be almost the same length as the first. But if you have such an anatomical feature, it is important to know about it.

And here's why
Usually, when choosing shoes, we focus on the big toe. For people with a "Greek foot" this plays a cruel joke, since there is not enough room for the second toe.

❗️ When measuring your foot, you need to focus on the longest toe, no matter what its number in the row. When trying on shoes you gotta focus on comfortability, so that all the toes move freely (see the post on how not to make a mistake with the size when buying online and offline).

Additionally, people with a "Greek foot" often have broken gait biomechanics. Weight is distributed incorrectly while walking - the main load falls on the second toe. This may not create any discomfort, but cause unpleasant consequences: calluses, curvature of the nails, deformation of the second toe and valgus of the first, poor posture. Well, any changes in biomechanics affect the entire body - the knees, hips, back and even shoulders suffer. And instead of helping the body, we make the situation worse with the "wrong" shoes🥺

Therefore, if you have such an anatomical feature, it is very important to choose shoes according to the shape and size of your foot! No matter how elegant shoes with heels and narrow toes may seem, it is advisable to wear them as rarely as possible. Well, you remember that among barefoot shoes there are also many beautiful elegant models💃

The main thing is to find yours🤗
