ADVANTAGES OF BAREFOOT WALKING

Walking barefoot has a number of advantages over wearing "traditional" shoes after all, Hollywood celebrities know something that we don't (refer to the blog post Barefoot on the Red Carpet)

Here is information from just a few studies involving kids barefoot walking:
👉 Those who grow up barefoot have significantly higher arches than those who wear shoes - direct prevention of flat feet (Hollander K, van der Zwaard BC, de Villiers JE, Braumann KM, Venter R, Zech A.).
👉 If a child wears shoes during the formation of their feet, their foot becomes narrower, which is why the pressure on the foot is redistributed incorrectly (musculoskeletal research group at Linds Beckett University).
👉 Incorrectly selected shoes increase the risk of foot deformation (Buldt AK, Menz HB.).
❗️ And incorrectly selected shoes are found in 66% (too narrow) and 72% (too short) of schoolchildren - yes, there is a separate study on this topic.

And now the good stuff.
If you wear not the usual, but minimalist shoes, in terms of the effect on the body, this will be close to walking barefoot. Flexible wide shoes with a thin sole allow the foot to develop more naturally compared to traditional rigid shoes. These are not just words, but also the conclusions of a full-fledged study (Wolf S, Simon J, Patikas D, Schuster W, Armbrust P, Doderlein L.).

It is very important to point out that choosing the right shoes is recommended especially for kids. As mothers ourselves, we know that sometimes it is very difficult to make both the picky kids happy as well as give a piece of mind to their parents.

Children's feet are just forming and it is important not to interfere with this process. Therefore, it is best for children to walk barefoot on different surfaces. But this is not always possible. That is why we are fans of barefoot shoes, which provide almost identical experience possible to walking barefoot, but at the same time children's feet are protected from dirt, cold, and excess moisture.

Children's barefoot shoes:

~ light, soft - they do not interfere with the baby's foot and do not make you want to take them off;
👣 with a wide toe - all fingers can move freely, do not stick together and do not deform;
🥿 with a zero-drop sole (without tilt) - the body weight is distributed correctly, without unnecessary load on the spine: this is especially important during the period of active growth, when the correct posture is laid for life;
☝️ without rigid backs and insoles that limit the movement of the foot, deprive the muscles of the necessary load, thereby weakening them;
🩰 with a thin flexible sole - the legs feel the surface underneath them well, the brain receives enough information so that the body can adjust to unevenness in time, maintain balance, move smoothly and confidently.

And how does walking barefoot affect adults? Our feet have already formed 🧐
There are studies on this topic too. So we will periodically share their findings with you, stay tuned (spoiler alert: it has a positive effect).
