1️⃣ Start gradually.
If you have previously worn "regular" shoes and have not walked barefoot that often, barefoot shoes may seem unusual in many ways. Therefore, at first, wear them as much as you can without feeling uncomfortable. Let it be half an hour a day, then an hour, two ... Take your time, give your ligaments and joints time to strengthen, your toes to straighten, and your feet to become more mobile.
And if possible, walk barefoot as much as possible (for example, it's easy to walk barefoot at home, right? 😉
2️⃣ Choose the right surface.
Start with the softest. First, walk on grass, sand. Then - on hard but smooth something like pavement concrete. And then you can move on to "extreme" landscapes 🧗
3️⃣ Find "your" model.
Barefoot shoes are very, very different. Yes, they are all spacious, light, flexible. But at the same time, there are models with a thinner and slightly denser sole. There are even "transitional" models with a little cushioning. Try them on, measure them, and if this is not possible, talk to a store manager, he will advise you on what is best to start with in your case.
By the way, we have clients who, during the transition period, decided to combine a model with a thinner and thicker sole. They walk in one pair, then in another. In general, a win-win option 🤩
4️⃣ Do exercises for strength, flexibility and balance.
Do gymnastics and foot massage. Strengthening the body muscles is super helpful, because everything in our body is interconnected. However, we recommend doing the exercises even if you don't plan to wear barefoot shoes. Your body will say "thank you" anyway 😁
By the way, would you like us to share such exercises, self-massage techniques and generally all sorts of useful things for our fingers, feet and legs in general on this blog?
Speaking of that, you can help your body make this transition as comfortable as possible. We'll tell you how in the next post. In the meantime, ask questions and share your experience of wearing or not wearing heels in the comments. We'll be glad to talk 🤗
And for the records, we're not strict opponents of heels. It's elegant, festive and can lift your spirits 🎉
If you want to wear heels on special occasions - please do. Just not every day and not for long. And be sure to "rehabilitate" your legs afterwards. We'll tell you how very soon 🙃
